Labour stability in Charlevoix is remarkable: the labour turnover rate is very low. This contributes a solid competitive advantage with respect to costs, mainly with a comparable situation in the United States where the labour force is very mobile.
For the last few years, global competition has pushed Quebec enterprises and unions to collaborate for finding new approaches to work relations. Work relations are often entered into as a true partnership between employers and employees. More and more, employers and unions sign long term agreements and this has a favourable impact on the stability of operations, productivity increase, forecast of labour costs and increases in investments.
Employer-union partnerships have also allowed the creation, by both major Quebec unions, of a venture capital fund dedicated to enterprises and the development of Quebec’s economy.
