Basically every human being is searching, consciously or not, for a situation that will bring him closest to his own vision of happiness. This essential principle varies and rests on values, feelings and background particular to each citizen of Charlevoix. The Charlevoix region therefore proposes to transform the GDP into the GRH, or the gross regional happiness. Maybe the term is ill-chosen, maybe we should speak of well-being or even collective well-being.
For our community, the objective remains the same: to measure the quality of life of our citizenry. Charlevoix International could be able to elaborate, at the region evolves, an indication of true progress. This could be based on several criteria; among them, a balance between resources and their use, economic value of voluntary work and the work of parents at home, global quality of life, value of leisure time, natural assets (forest, energy), quality of the environment (greenhouse gases, water quality), just distribution of income, health of the population, territorial management, costs linked to criminality, access to education, level of commitment and the vision.
