At the beginning of the 1990’s, Charlevoix saw the arrival of new enterprises that concentrated mainly on the establishment of niche products while handling the merchandising of their product themselves. 24% of agricultural enterprises in Charlevoix are working in this type of production.
With this in mind and with the help of a number of renowned chefs, agricultural producers in Charlevoix have set up La Table Agrotouristique de Charlevoix. This profit-free organisation has a mission: to stimulate the social and biofood industry by fostering the development of a integration process to produce, transform and market the products of the terroir. La Table Agrotouristique de Charlevoix is also at the origin of la Route des Saveurs, the first agrotouristic circuit in Quebec where inns and farms work hand in hand.
